It's the 11th annual celebration of the very best of Halifax eating and drinking, as voted by Coast readers, the very best readers in the world.

The rules are simple: Name your favourite in at least 10 of the following categories, and you're entered in the random draw for tasty prizes. The grand prize is $1,000 in gifts certificates at local bars and restaurants, plus lots of other prize packs for the runners-up.

To enter, you must be a registered member of The Coast's website (you can sign up now if you haven't before). We promise not to share you information with anyone outside The Coast. We will add your email address to our Best Of newsletter mailing list, but you can easily unsubscribe.

Only one vote per person is allowed. (We keep track of IP addresses and have other ways to thwart cheaters. Improper votes will be disqualified.) If you add insightful reasons or clever comments or contribute to the forum section at the end, we may (anonymously) quote you. And if you have any trouble voting, please let us know at boftech@thecoast.ca.

Keep your choices local-that is, to restaurants, bars, shops, etc. that are owned and operated here in Halifax. If it's a chain you're voting for, be sure to specify the location so we know who exactly you're talking about. For example, Il Mercato has locations on both Spring Garden Road and the Bedford Highway.

Voting is open for the entire month of March: from the wee hours of the morning Thursday, March 1 through Saturday, March 31 at midnight. Results will be announced in The Coast Thursday, May 17.
