Without this film actually being worthy of a recommendation, Tooth Fairy’s key theme coalesced with another, more seismic pop cultural event last weekend: the end of Conan O’Brien’s Tonight Show. Unusual for a family film, Dwayne Johnson’s Tooth Fairy adds significant depth to its “believe in your dreams” platitude, with the implication that to do so requires belief in yourself and a lot of hard work. It made an interesting companion to Conan’s bittersweet pronouncement: “Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen,” and the two messages combined inspired me to think of where my dreams have gotten me. I have a gig I always wanted, but one that requires me to see movies like Tooth Fairy. It’s amazing. –Hillary Titley
